It's plastic, it doesn't degrade easily.
Some blades come as a gift, and it's easy to understand, which I appreciate, as well as a small brush to clean any debris left on the rake. It's a product to start with and it more than meets expectations, it doesn't disappoint, just be careful. It is still a sharp material and you should be slow in using it.
